Rothfus Blasts Altmire as Liberal

“Rarely has a news release from a political candidate had less to do with reality than the one issued today by Congressman Jason Altmire citing a National Journal report that placed him at the ideological midpoint of the House of Representatives,” said Republican Congressional candidate Keith Rothfus.

“No ranking can hide the fact that Jason Altmire has voted to pass more than $3 trillion in debt to our children, was ineffective in blocking Nancy Pelosi -- the person he helped put in charge of the House -- from ramming through legislation harmful to this district, and has consistently failed to exercise leadership for the conservative views of the people he represents.

“Frankly, it doesn’t come as news that with an eighty-seat majority in the House, the Democrats have the luxury of allowing some of their members to avoid casting votes that will give away their liberal stripes.

“Jason Altmire voted for Obama’s massive spending bill at the beginning of last year, for a second “stimulus” at the end of the year, voted to raise taxes, and has yet to explain whether he opposes on principle a government takeover of health care. He is neither “right of center” nor a centrist of any kind—just one more ambitious Washington liberal. Voters want real change and principled leadership this year, and that’s the last thing they can expect from Jason Altmire.”
